I have just returned from the annual SAMA conference (Society of American Mosaic Artists) in Lexington, Kentucky. What a great conference. It is always great to get together with other mosaic artisits and share techniques, knowledge and the love of the art. I also met with many other teachers. It was so great to hear how many would like to come teach at the Santa Barbara School of Mosaic Art. Visiting artists is a great way for you the student to expand your knowledge and skills as mosaic artists. Last month the sold out workshop of visiting artist Martin Cheek was an incredible experience. Martin’s lectures explained in simple English so many techniques while his hands on assistance raised the level of every student in that workshop. With that kind of success it is exciting to announce a list of some of the visiting artists coming to SBSMA in the future plus more to be added soon:

It is so exciting to see the interest and excitement of mosaic art spread. I have been a mosaic artist for over 15 years and to watch new students learn this art and work hard to achieve great work is a gratifying experience. Please feel free to email me what kind of mosaic art you would like to learn. I love to get feedback and see where we can expand our knowledge and skills as artists and students!
