September 2012

It is so important we all take time to do the things we love.  In our busy fast paced lives it is so easy to get caught up in the day to day events that we don’t take the time to do something that truly makes us happy.  A long time ago I learned how to make mosaic art, it is truly my passion.  If mosaic art is something you have always wanted to try, then do it.  If you have tried it once or twice and want to get better at it, or try a new style, then do it.  We hear it all the time, “life is short” enjoy it while you can!  Santa Barbara School of Mosaic Art is here to teach, guide and make creating mosaic art truly enjoyable.  There are some incredible of visiting artists scheduled through out the year here at SBSMA.  There are also workshops like the Table top and Boulder/Garden sphere that are scheduled regularly.  Below is a list of upcoming workshops, there are also many more on the website schedule page.  There is also LAB if you want to work during the week, as well as private lessons if that fits your schedule better.  However it works for you, SBSMA is here to be a part of making your life even that much more fulfilling……

Sue Baldwin has reached her 27th year at the very same middle school where she started her teaching career and she still loves it. When she is not teaching, you will find her taking art classes in lots of different art mediums. Sue is most renowned for her unique fused glass jewelry designs. After meeting Tami at the Santa Barbara School of Mosaic Art they have collaborated together to create extraordinary fused glass pieces specifically designed for inclusion in mosaicart.

“I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way–things I had
no words for.”-Georgia O’Keefe

Carol’s workshop was a complete success.  She gave insightful and knowledgeable lectures as well as hands on guidance.  Each student created their own portrait while learning about tone, balance, shading and contrasts.
